Jolly Grant Airport (IATA: DED, ICAO: VIDN), also known as Dehradun Airport, is an airport serving Dehradun, Haridwar and Rishikesh. Jolly Grant Airport is located on Dehradun-Rishikesh State Highway. Jolly Grant is the only operational airport plying daily commercial flights, connecting the Capital of Uttaranchal, Dehradun with Indian capital, Delhi.
The airport is located about 25 km southeast of the city of Dehradun, 14 km north of Rishikesh and 40 km from Haridwar. Its location makes it convienent for the people of Rishikesh, Dehradun and Haridwar. Jolly Grant Airport is 112 NM from nearest airport that is IGI Airport, Delhi.
The Airports Authority of India has expanded the runway at the airport. Earlier this airport could only handle small aircraft while now it can handle the movements of Airbus A320s, Boeing 737s and other aircraft in their category. This will get more airlines flying in.
This Airport is being located close to the holy city of Rishikesh, the gateways to the Himalayas, would enable tourist to fly in instead of travelling by Rail or Road.
